ABOUT THE CLUB

Welcome to the official Llantwit Fardre Football Club website. This site is desgined to keep club members up to date with the latest club information and statistics and to be a source of information and contact details for anyone wishing to know about our club or make contact with us.

Llantwit Fardre AFC in it's present form was founded in 1958, although there have been a number of clubs in the locality since the start of the 20th Century that were the forerunners of the present club.

We initially competed in the old Pontypridd & District League ( now the Taff Ely and Rhymney Valley Football League ) where we achieved the unrivalled feat of winning all four competitons, League Champions and the three Cups, Horniman, Greatrix & Greyhound in one season 1974/75, as well as individually on a number of other occasions.

In 1976 we entered the South Wales Amateur League and were Second Division Champions in 1976/77, Corinthian Cup Winners 1977/78 & 19882/83 and finalists 2002/03. League Champions in 1982/83 and 2002/03. That success in season 2002/03 elevated the club into Divion Three of the Welsh Football League where our first team currently play, with our reserve senior side playing in the Central Division of the Reserve League.

During our history we have also gained success and recognition with our junior teams who have on many occasions been League and Cup Winners. We currently try to field teams at every age group we can and also have a very succesful mini football section for boys and girls aged 6 to 11 years old.

Our senior sides, U'18's and mini section play at Tonteg Park, Main Rd, Tonteg and our other junior teams play at Central Park, Church Village. We have a Clubhouse at Llantwit Fardre Sports Club, Central Park, Church Village (tel no 01443 207393).

If you are interested in playing at any level or require more information about the club please feel free to contact us. We would welcome any new players or anyone expressing an interest in the club and willing to lend any assistance or financial support.

We have this year celebrated our 50th Anniversary and have held a number of successful events to celebrate this event. We have produced a commemorative pictorial book to mark this anniversary and copies are still available to purchase - see the seperate advert for this on this website

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
